United Way of McLean County Women United held its fifth annual Power of the Purse event on June 14 to raise needed funding for its partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.  The program, which is now active in McLean County, brings a book to every registered child’s (0-5 years old) doorstep once a month.

Blooming Tree Wealth Management sponsored and volunteered at the event. BTWM’s Ryan O’Connell sold 50/50 raffle tickets. “I’m inspired by what United Way of McLean County is doing to in our community and was more than happy to get involved,” says Ryan.

One parent, who is also an educator, shared the importance of Imagination Library’s effort and the impact developing excitement in reading can have on a child.

The event, which completed a $10,000 fundraising challenge in just 15 minutes, was a huge success. The total amount raised will be released soon. Read more about the background of the event here.
